EXPERIENCE        

CORPORATE COUNSEL - July 2000 to Present

Corporate counsel for small private biotech company. Responsible for overseeing all legal needs, including litigation, contract review, protection of I.P., debt collection, and temporary retention of outside counsel. Lead counsel in federal trade secret case. Successfully litigated numerous contract disputes with both private and governmental entities.

SOLE PRACTITIONER - March 1997 to Present

Sole practice consisting of criminal and civil litigation; Approximately 20 criminal jury trials to verdict Conducted numerous depositions. Criminal conflict attorney for Santa Clara County from 1997 through 2000; Recently tried civil case successfully to verdict against multimillion-dollar corporation. Civil jury trial experience, as well as civil and criminal appellate experience; Currently represent plaintiff in federal court in a 42 U.S.C. 1983 case for malicious prosecution; Drafted pending appeal in the 6^th District Court of Appeal. Solid experience with criminal pre-trial motions and post-conviction relief, including record clearance, special writ, and deportations with overlapping criminal issues.

BARKER & ASSOCIATES - CRIMINAL DEFENSE (PUBLIC DEFENDER CONFLICTS)

February 1995 to March 1997

Responsible for preliminary hearings and trying felony cases, including "3 Strikes"; Felony and misdemeanor jury trial experience; 40-50 felony bench trials; Drafted successful pretrial motions, e.g. 995, 1538.5, demurrers and "Speedy Trial" issues; Experience in juvenile law, including W&I 300 & 602 cases; Concurrently handled private criminal and civil cases including P.I. and business litigation; Appellate experience; Mounted successful constitutional challenge to Fresno City ordinance.
